Public Observing Event
at the ACA Observatory


Stars, Open Clusters & Splitting Doubles

View Vega & M92 near the zenith;
we'll also split the Double-Double.

.
These objects are on our observing list:

Venus  - "Early-bird" special!  (sets 90 minutes after sunset)
Saturn  - The Ringed Planet w/rings tilted at 20°
Epsilon Lyrae  - The "Double-Double" star
M13  - The Great Hercules Cluster
M92  - globular cluster w/higher concentration of stars than M13
M11  - Wild Duck Cluster;
 

    you won't believe this image with the 16" observatory   telescope fitted with the 31mm Nagler

M17  - The Swan Nebula; very sweet!
M24  - Star cloud (open cluster in Sagittarius)
M26  - Open cluster in Sagittarius
M23  - Open cluster in Sagittarius
M8  - Lagoon Nebula
NGC 6229  - globular cluster; 102,000 ly distant
M57  - the Ring Nebula - as you've never seen it before!
NGC 6633  - very nice open cluster in Ophiuchus
NGC 6445  - Little Gem Nebula;
     small, pretty bright planetary nebula in Sagittarius
Albireo  - beautifully colored double star in Cygnus
NGC 6826  - The Blinking Planetary Nebula
     well-placed near zenith; Is it actually blinking?
NGC 6543  - Cat's Eye Nebula
     Observe the central star in this planetary nebula

Jet Stream (updates automatically to latest available image)
    The Jet Stream affects astronomical "seeing" (steadiness of the air)
    If we're in a gray area, seeing will not be as good as in a white area.
    If we're in a white area, the shorter the arrows, the better.
